Bike prices range from $200-$7000 (more if you get special editions / custom build) but I would suggest looking to spend around $350, this is enough that you are not getting a peice of trash but still cehap enough that if you decide you don’t like cycling you haven’t spent a fortune. Remeber if you get really passionate about cycling you can always upgrade next year.
At this price all of the major brands are about the same (specialzied, giant, raleigh, fuji, schwinn, marin, trek)

Avoid generic high street spots shops (Dick’s Gart’s REI etc) and go to an actual bicyle shop.
They should listen to you show you different options explain the differences let you try them and make sure it fits (this last part will take 10-15 at least) - if they don’t seem interested or knowledgable walkout and try somewhere else. In fact try several shops anyway and go wiht the ones who treat you the best!

Washington DC - NY Ave, zip code 20002: Is it a safe neighborhood?

The Atlas Performing Arts Center is located in an historically-Black neighborhood that has had its share of troubles since the riots of the 1960s. While the neighborhood is starting to experience welcome gentrification with the opening of the Atlas in a former movie theater and the opening of several nearby restaurnts, I’m not convinced that it’s yet safe to freely walk around in, particularly at night.

The hotels on New York Avenue have a bad reputation. Some of them have been used as welfare hotels, others for various illegal activties such as prostitution. Although I have no personal familiarity with the Howard Johnson Express, I just checked out the Trip Advisor website and found that of 17 posted reviews, ALL were negative–some extremely so! According to the reviews, it’s not at all a safe place to stay, particularly for an unaccompanied woman. Please look at the reviews–the URL is below.

My suggestion is that if low price is your objective, that you stay at one of the motels/hotels in the close in suburbs, such as in Arlington, Alexandria, or Falls Church, Virginia. If you’ll have a car with you, the exact location won’t matter.

The head sizes of tennis racquets?

i think the misconception of larger head size giving more power compared to smaller head size is inaccurate.

oversize rackets play different from mid-plus rackets.
mid-plus rackets are generally heavier although from the same model and same brand.

string tension depends on your playing style, amount of spin you put on the ball, playing ability etc………..

andre agassi played with an oversize frame. but he could generate lots of power with control. he never strung his racket with high tension.
pete sampras on the other hand used only a 88 sq in racket with real high tension.

so you see, different players string their rackets differently.

the type of strings you use will also play n feel differently even if you the same tension on the same racket.
for example, nylons and polyester feel different.

if you string an oversize with the same tension as a mid-plus, they would not play the same even if you use the same type of strings.
then u have to consider the density of the string bed. for example………..16×19, 18×20………..
if the racket you use has a wider string bed ie vertical strings are further apart from the crosses, then that racket may have better spin generation. vice versa.
lower tensions may give you extra spin on your shots.
lower tension also increases the sweet-spot of your racket.
unless you already are used to lower tensions, to lower the string tension of your racket, you may loose a bit of control if you string it too low.
but you will get used to it after a few sessions.

i have worked with lots of players over the years. i would alwaze recommend lower string tensions to ease the playability of a racket. there will also be less elbow and wrist problems.

so go try it out for yourself.

have fun!!

is there a link between flying and atrial fibrillation?

Atrial fibrillation is more on cardiac electrical impulses than atmospheric pressure-induced, so high altitudes do not have that high of a correlation with the said disease. This disease is also called cardiac DYSRHYTHMIA, and I call it as such instead of ARRHYTHMIA because “A-” means “none”, and atrial fibrillation definitely has a cardiac rhythm but only abnormal.

If the nature of your cardiovascular disease is altitude induced, such as Bends, then flying might be a problem. The complication of your disease, however, is more related and more likely to be triggered by anxiety-filled situations, which, in your case as you said, is flying or any other situations or events that trigger an anxiety attack. Anxiety attacks translate to high adrenaline production, sweating, and fast heartbeats as some of the symptoms. The increased heart rate could switch your cardiovascular physiology to the atrial fibrillation state, i.e. your abnormal cardiac rhythm–this is the exact nature of patients diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, with alternate switching between normal cardiac rhythm to an abnormal one.

If flying triggers an anxiety attack towards you, then there is a high chance that it would also trigger atrial fibrillation in your state. Remember that flying per se is not the problem but the event itself that give rise to a precursor of atrial fibrillation. If this is the case, you have some options to remedy this. I recommend you see a cardiologist and discuss your case and possible anxiolytic (meds directed toward anxiety attacks) medications, like Diazepam for example, that you can take if flying is absolutely necessary.

If I am not mistaken, AF is manageable is most cases. And since yours is paroxysmal in nature, there is something that can be done to manage it.

I hope this helps!

My parents have two dogs that needed little training. They’re naturally docile. What % of dogs are like this?

As to what percentage, I’m not sure there is any data that has been collected on that. I’d guess they got lucky, if that was what they were after. Some are, some aren’t. I would sooner guess that your parents were careful in their selections and picked personalities that matched what they were looking for. […]

So many people pick a pup based solely it’s appearance, with no regard to temperment.

As for myself, I love personality. The more stubborn, and inventive the better. They amuse me immensely.

I have 2 chihuahuas that are like night and day, except for one thing, each wants it his/her own way. Life is quite interesting with them around. Both were easy enough to potty train and house break as it were, but as for their personalities or spirit, I enjoy their antics and don’t discourage such.

To each their own. The only thing that breaks my heart, is when people don’t bother to research the breed they want, much less pick a pup that matches their own personalities and lifestyles, and then are frustrated and want to give them up.

Kudos to your parents for not only making good choices in the darlings that share their lives, but also putting in the time to train them properly so they are a joy and not a burden.

What was better, spitfire or hurricane?

It depends on what you mean by better. The Spit was faster and more maneuverable, but took three times as long to build as the ME-109. The Spit was faster and more maneuverable, but took three times as long to build as the ME-109. If the Battle of Britain had been totally up to the Spit, the British would have lost by sheer numbers.

The Hurricane was slower and less maneuverable (although it was more maneuverable than the ME-109 and in purely turning combat it was unmatched) but was available in larger numbers since it was simpler to produce. But again, if the Battle of Britain had been totally up to the Hurricane, the Brits would have lost due to its lower performance.

The Hurricane was longer ranged than the Spit with a combat radius of about 600 miles compared to just over 400.

Both aircraft either had 8 .303 MGs or a mix of 20mm cannon and .303 MGs. There were 350 rounds per gun for the .303s and 60 for the 20mm cannon on each aircraft. This is a pretty light load compared to contemporary American aircraft but these planes were designed for point defense with short engagement times.

The system that stops a penguin’s foot from freezing is very elaborate and sophisticated and employs two mechanisms.

The first one allows the penguin to control the rate of blood flowing to its feet by varying the diameter of arterial vessels supplying the blood. In cold conditions the flow is reduced, when it is warm the flow increases.

The second mechanism takes the form of ‘counter current heat exchangers’ at the top of the legs. The arteries, which supply warm blood and oxygen to the penguin’s feet break up into many small vessels which are closely linked to similar numbers of venous vessels bringing cold blood back from the feet. So, when heat is lost from the arterial vessels, the venous vessels running in the opposite direction pick it up and carry it back through the body, rather than out through the feet. This means that in the very remote regions of the skin, cells get oxygen but heat isn’t lost through this skin.

Which park in Cancun, Mexico should we visit of these listed?

Xcaret is a lot of fun, a full on tourist must see, kind of like an amusement park, an aquarium and a museum all in one place. I loved it, it’s amusing and amazing but it is just a park, compared to Tulum.
Tulum, is just beautiful, specially if you’ve never seen Mayan ruins. Just the combination of the antiquity and symbolism of it all and the white sands and turquoise sea of the Caribbean is an experience within itself. You can see the ruins, go to the town itself, spend sometime in the tourist area (food & drinks) and even visit the nearby town of Playa del Carmen, a trendy alternative to resort filled Cancun.
Personally I’d go to Tulum and save Xcaret for another time, considering all the climate changes and what not, Tulum might not be around in the condition it is, for much longer.
And if you’re on a budget, well, Xcaret is as expensive as any other amusement park, and visiting the archaeological site in Tulum (I’m not 100% sure how much) is probably pretty inexpensive as it is maintained and run by the Mx. Gov.
I can’t tell you much about Isla Mujeres, since I’ve never been there. But I hope this helps.
Have fun!

I have no answers for you, my friend.

I thought the same thing in the off-season LAST year, when they let half the team walk, and knew they would have a rough season.

Now this season, still more people leaving (Moose, Berrian, Briggs), and no talent coming in.

I honestly just don’t get it. It’s easy to second guess theese guys when you are on the outside… but in this case, I honestly think I’d make a better GM. The last two years have proven to me your current one is an idiot. (Re-signing Grossman, but letting the guys who actually make plays go? WTF?)

And my faith in Lovie is going down the toilet too, just for sticking by Train-Rex.

As long as they are destroying the team… can you convince them to trade Devin Hester to my Bengals?

Did they hire Matt Millen as a consultant?

*Keep dreaming…that wasn’t a keyboard Lemony was drooling on last night (she IS SO gonna kill me when she gets on here…but, hey, I do live 2000 miles away…that should help me get a good headstart………. LOL!) Why do ya think I got so quiet? those two are a handfull!

*LOL!!… I love it!.. I am a Cyber-Pimp! Wow…is that pathetic, or what?

*Waddya think? Does it make my butt look big?!?!?
